How do I make a reservation at Hawthorne’s Hideout?

Reservations for individuals and groups of up to 6 people can be made here on this website or via OpenTable. Click or tap “Reservations” above to get started!

Is walk-in seating available, or are reservations required?

Reservations are always required to enter Hawthorne’s Hideout. We do not currently offer a wait-list. Always check OpenTable for the latest reservation availability.

What is included in the ticket price?

In addition to the entertainment, individual and small group reservations include two specialty cocktails and dessert are included with the ticket price. Additional beverages and food are available for purchase at an additional cost.

Can I modify or cancel my reservation? What is your cancellation policy?

Yes! Reservations must be canceled directly through OpenTable at least 48 hours in advance for a full refund. Partial refunds for ‘no-show’ group/party members are not allowed. No-shows or late cancellations are not eligible for refunds.

What happens if I’m running late?

All reservations are for a set seating time as part of a unique dining and entertainment experience. Individuals and groups must be fully-present and ready before entering the Hideout at their reserved time. Please arrive promptly; We suggest at least 15 minutes prior to your seating time. Late arrivals may miss part of the performance and may not be admitted because it is disruptive to other guests and the flow of the evening. Refunds are not permitted for late arrivals or no-shows.

Is gratuity included in the ticket price?

15% gratuity is added to the standard ticket price. Additional tipping is not required. Gratuity will be displayed when you purchase your tickets on OpenTable.

Do you accommodate dietary restrictions or allergies?

Yes! We are FULLY wheelchair accessible. If you require the use of our elevator, please let our reception staff know.

Private Parties & Room Buyouts

How do I book Hawthorne’s Hideout for a private event or room buyout?

What’s included in the private party packages?

We offer 3 levels of service for room buyouts and private parties. Each level has its own price and features. Please see our private parties page for information.

How far in advance should I book a private event?

We suggest at least 30 days advanced notice. This allows us to verify availability and gather the needed info to plan your event.

What is the deposit requirement for private events?

We require a non-refundable $500 deposit to confirm your private party reservation and block off the date in our reservation calendar. The full balance for your party is due 1 week prior to your event date.

What if I need to cancel my private party?

Customers requesting cancellation of their private party more than 7 days prior to the event are eligible for a refund of all payments, less their non-refundable deposit. Cancellations made less than 7 days prior to the event date are not eligible for a refund. This protects us from losses due to holding your date and preparing staffing, food, and other services.

In some circumstances, we may offer a partial refund if the customer re-books their reservation for an available future date.

Can we customize the food or drink menu for private parties?

We can try! Please send us a message and our events coordinator try to accommodate any special requests.

What’s the maximum capacity for a private event?

21 people.

Do you allow decorations or outside entertainment for private events?

Space inside of Hawthorne’s Hideout is extremely limited. We allow a minimum amount added decor. Please let us know if you plan to bring anything ahead of time.

Is there a minimum age requirement for private events?

Generally, Hawthorne’s Hideout is open for reservations and private parties for those 21 and older. Exceptions can be made in certain scenarios. Please let our events coordinator know ahead of time if you intend to invite anyone under the age of 21.

Experience Details

What is the age requirement for entry?

All ticked guests must be 21 or older to enter Hawthorne’s Hideout. Ticketed guests who are found to not be 21 or older will not be admitted and a refund will not be issued. We check IDs of all guests prior to entry.

How long does the experience last?

The live entertainment lasts approximately 60 minutes and we allow for approximately 30 minutes of open exploration time afterwards.

What kind of entertainment can I expect during my visit?

Each seating at Hawthorne’s Hideout is hosted by a lively and charismatic guide who serves as your master of ceremonies for the evening. This energetic host sets the pace of the experience—welcoming guests, unveiling hidden secrets, and drawing everyone into the unfolding story of the legendary explorer Elias Hawthorne.

Is guest participation required?

Of course not! But we definitely encourage it!

Are photos or videos allowed during the experience?

Yes, but we ask that you use common sense and always remain respectful of those around you.

Is the experience seated, or can we move around during the show?

Hawthorne’s Hideout is not your typical bar or restaurant. This is an immersive dining and cocktail experience set in an intimate, explorer-themed speakeasy. Seating is unconventional: instead of standard tables, guests may select from 21 individually themed seats (with each having its own fascinating backstory). Seats are filled on first come, first serve basis and the space is designed to encourage mingling and shared enjoyment of the entertainment. While we do our best to seat groups together, you may be seated next to other guests.

Are Non alcoholic / mocktails offered?

Yes! Absolutely! Any of our specialty cocktails can be made non-alcoholic.

Location & Accessibility

Where is Hawthorne’s Hideout located?

Hawthorne’s Hideout is located behind a hidden passageway in the once-forgotten catacomb level of Stage Nine Entertainment Store in the historic Old Sacramento Waterfront, located at 102 K Street, Sacramento, CA 95814. To access Hawthorne’s Hideout, descend the spiral staircase into the Underground Vault of Stage Nine. From there you will be directed to the Hideout. An elevator is also available. Reservations are always required to enter Hawthorne’s Hideout.

Is parking available nearby?

Parking in the Old Sacramento Waterfront area can vary depending on season and events. Metered street parking is available throughout the district and the meters accept credit/debit cards or you may use the Sacramento ParkMobile app. Public parking structures are also available and typically require pre-payment to enter (cash or credit/debit cards). We recommend arriving early to allow time for parking and walking to the Hideout. Late arrivals are highly discouraged and can result in non-refundable cancellation of your reservation.

Payment & Policies

What forms of payment do you accept?

We do not accept cash inside Hawthorne’s Hideout. Visa/MC/Discover/Amex are all accepted for reservations and other purchases.

Is sales tax included in the ticket price?

Sales tax is added to the total ticket price at checkout on OpenTable.

Can I purchase gift cards or vouchers?

Not at this time.

How do I cancel my reservation?

Reservations must be canceled directly through OpenTable at least 48 hours in advance for a full refund. If your reservation is less than 48 hours away, we will be unable to offer a refund. Partial refunds for ‘no-show’ group/party members are not allowed. No-shows or late cancellations are not eligible for refunds.
